Globalink works with industry standard SIP protocol IP phones. There are three types: hard, soft and firm. Below is a brief description of each as well as example of phones that Globalink has tested and found to work with our system. Since Globalink does not dictate what type of IP phones that you can use with our system, there are quite a few variations in configuration and setup procedures.

Hardware VoIP Phones are physical pieces of hardware that can be connected to your network through an ethernet connection. You do not need a computer to use a voip phone. VoIP phones also support better sound quality as most free softphones do not support the best codec for sound quality. We recommend Linksys by Cisco VoIP phones as they have been tested to work with our Porta Switch and can be automatically configured by MAC or hardware address.

Linksys SPA9000 PBX


The Linksys SPA9000 marries the rich feature set of legacy PBX telephone systems with the convenience and cost advantages of internet telephony. It has common key system features such as an auto attendant, shared line appearances, three way call conferencing, music on hold, "follow me" calling, and many more. The SPA9000 opens up access to the benefits of Voice Over IP, including low cost long distance service, phone number portability, and one network for both voice and data.

Soft phones  are software phones that can be downloaded into your computer. Some softphones are loaded to USB memory sticks so that you can just plug it to your USB port and make calls.  You will need to have a sound card and microphone to use a softphone.  If you are using a softphone, please use one that will support  g.723 codec or higher for better sound quality. If you live in a country where voip is restricted, you will need our VPN VoIP softphone with built-in tunneling software. Please contact support.
